In the wake of celebrating National Macaron Day this week, we’re highlighting resident macaron (not to be confused with macaroon) expert Tamy Chung, owner of maca boston at Bow Market!

Tell us a little bit about your business!

We make french macarons. Our flavors rotate constantly based on seasonality and mood! The display case is stocked every day starting with 12 flavors and rotate throughout the week.

What inspired you to start a business? How did this feeling grow once you actually started maca boston?

I fell in love with macarons in late Dec 2014 and started testing out my own recipes. My friends and coworkers who had eaten macarons all over the world told me that mine were the best they ever had! They urged me to start my own business because at the time, macarons were really hard to find around the city. I was hesitant at first. I grew up in the restaurant business my whole life and knew how hard and taxing it is on your physical and mental wellbeing. I opened maca boston in 2018 and today I am proud to make people smile with my macas!

How do you #LoveUnionSquare?

I love my everyday conversations with our neighborhood! We are so lucky to be in a community where folx take a genuine interest in the businesses around them.

Visit maca boston Wed and Thurs 12-5pm, Fri and Sat 12-7pm, and Sun 12-5pm.
