The Somerville Community Growing Center is a quarter-acre, municipally-owned green space operated and stewarded by the non-profit volunteer Friends of the Community Growing Center.

At their Volunteer Orientation, you'll take a thorough tour of the space, learn its 30-plus year history, and take in the logistics of on-site volunteering.

Learn important details like:

• everything from accessing the electrical and water supply to finding the right tools

• where to check for the most up-to-date garden info and tasks, and specifics on seasonal clean-up and maintenance tasks (like snow removal in winter, watering in summer)

• the benefits of native plants in the rain and pollinator gardens and discover the many local partner organizations they've collaborated with over the years.

• the myriad of opportunities to get involved, from garden team to event support, outreach to composting, program planning, open hours hosting and more!
