Join #ARTSTAYSHERE & the 3-dozen artists, musicians & creatives at Central Street Studios for a preservation party/community advocacy gathering as their building transitions ownership with the goal of maintaining affordable artist workspaces in Somerville!
Paul & Karen Morse, Nancy Dutton & David Benton have owned, upkept & stewarded the affordable artist workspaces at Central Street Studios for over 40 years. It has always been the owners’ mission for the next owner to keep the creative community intact, as affordable artist workspaces in Somerville, so they’ve been working with Jim Grace & the nonprofit, mission-driven Arts & Business Council (ABC) of Greater Boston to become an official Cultural Land Trust project. With significant financial support from Mayor Katjana Ballantyne & the City of Somerville, ABC is poised to purchase the property and honor the owners’ wishes. With everyone doing their parts, the artists at Central Street Studios have launched their own online fundraiser to help bridge the funding gap to get the preservation of Central Street Studios over the finish line.
Head to Warehouse XI to meet the artists, hear about the value of their individual artist workspaces & their collective create community, bid on auction prizes, participate in live painting, on-site advocacy & support their fundraiser. Help keep artists in Somerville!
