After studying with noted pianist Makoto Ozone as a kid in Japan, the now Brooklyn-based pianist Rina Yamazaki has garnered considerable attention in the few years she's been in the States. She graduated from Berklee, took honors for her playing and her composition at the first Ellis Marsalis International Piano Competition in 2018, and recently sat in with Jon Batiste on The Late Show. Her Mandorla Music Series appearance last summer sold out and we're happy to have her back. Expect to hear original compositions and standards. She'll be joined by Soso Gelovani on bass and Ilya Blazh on drums.
