Recent news about the Paris Climate Agreement has highlighted Somerville's steadfast commitment to pursuing carbon neutrality by the year 2050.
Somerville is not alone. Mayor Curtatone has joined more than 270 mayors across America to declare their cities will uphold the commitments made in the Paris Agreement. Somerville is also among the 14 cities in the Boston Metro area that reaffirmed the region's commitment to combating climate change. And you can help with that.
If you want to get involved, please join us on June 26 to help map out Somerville's climate change plan, called Somerville Climate Forward. This plan seeks to significantly reduce Somerville's carbon emissions and make preparations for the already-occurring effects of climate change. This event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School, 50 Cross St.
Our SustainaVille website contains reports about Somerville's carbon emissions, including baseline data, and information about what you can do, starting today, to help Somerville reach its 2050 goal.
