Let's dance and play in a big, beautiful Somerville warehouse! Partner dance the night away, connect with a new friend under a rainbow cloud, explore fiber art caves, or take a dive into the conversation ball pit, all brought to you by Somerville artist Easton Smith and Ashley Kirsner of Skip the Small Talk. What will you discover at The Playground?

The wonderful Kelsey Flynn will be teaching a fusion dance class from 7-7:45pm. If you haven't danced fusion before, this will be a great intro! Fusion is a versatile partner dance style that works to any music. Kelsey will teach the basics so you'll have the skills to partner dance with anyone for the night even if you're a total beginner, and she'll give tips on how to ask new people to dance so everyone feels as comfortable as possible.

We have an amazing line-up of DJ's and artists! DJ's for the night areDanner ClaflinIzébel Vee, and out-of-town DJ Naa Vah Kra. The Playground will feature work by Easton Smith, who specializes in "cumuglownimbus" rainbow clouds and building arts-enhanced community playgrounds and meditation rooms and Isaac Richmond, who makes hypnotic contraptions with lights and mirrors. We'll announce other local artists as we approach the event.

All proceeds will go to The Network/ La Red, a survivor-led organization to end partner abuse. Learn more about their awesome work here:http://tnlr.org/en/

We care about making this event as accessible as possible. The building is wheelchair accessible, you can get within 0.3 miles of the venue via the 80, 87, and 88 buses, and service dogs are welcome. If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility or would like to request additional accommodations, please contact Nika Rivilis, head safety and accessibility coordinator, via Facebook message, e-mail at nrivilis@gmail.com, or phone/text at 917-392-3222.

At the event, you will notice some people with bright orange or navy blue bandanas (around their neck, hair, wrists, or arms). Orange is for Organizers: these are the people in charge of music and various other behind the scenes work, including DJs and artists. Navy Blue is for “Here For You” team members: these are volunteers who are here to assist you if you need help with anything at the event, from wanting to find a quiet space to reporting an unsafe situation. If you’re interested in volunteering with the “Here For You” team, please contact Nika (more contact info in above paragraph).

If we have tickets left, we'll sell them at the door, but we are likely to run out in advance. Get tickets here to secure your spot, and please remember that we're not taking *ANY* profit on this, so the more you donate, the money goes directly to help end partner abuse: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fusion-playground-tickets-34333574646

Can't wait to see you on The Fusion Playground!
