Elorm Praise Dela-Seshie has brought unique products from African creatives stateside since 2017. From participating in pop-up markets to establishing her own brick and mortar in 2021, Elorm shares why she is proud to bring African culture to the Square.

Tell us a little bit about your business!

Adorn Me Africa is a multi-brand marketplace, subscription box and boutique with the mission to support and empower African-based sustainable contemporary fashion brands and creatives. Our desire is to adorn our clients; to help them feel even more confident in their own beauty and power. We also create spaces for connection and learning about African culture. 

What inspired you to start Adorn Me Africa?

I was motivated to start Adorn Me Africa in 2015 while visiting my family in Ghana. While there, I connected with creatives making beautiful contemporary fashion, unique accessories, art and handmade goods, but had limited ways to connect with markets outside of the continent beyond tourism. Adorn Me Africa is a bridge for those makers and creatives and the only US distribution for 90% of our partner brands.

What are you most proud of as a business leader?

I am very proud of how many brands we can now showcase and support. The impact of introducing a new client to an African brand goes a long way in creating an inclusive and true global fashion market and plays a role in combating design piracy.

How do you #LoveUnionSquare?

I #LoveUnionSquare by contributing to the diverse culture that already exists here by creating events and opportunities for more people in my community to experience the beauty and uniqueness of the Square.
